Florian HAUSER is an EU civil servant and a leading expert on public administration reform. He currently is the Deputy Head of Unit for Public Administration and Governance at the European Commission's Directorate General for Structural Reform Support since July 2023. Previously, he led the Public Administration Reform team at the European Commission's Directorate General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations (2000-2023), and coordinated EU policy on public administration and managed reform projects at the Structural Reform Support Service (2017-2020). He was instrumental in developing the European Commission's Competence Centre on Public Administration and he coordinated the Commission's Inter-service group on Public Administration Quality and innovation. He coordinated European Social Fund investment for institutional capacity building and public administration reform in EU Member States at the Commission's Directorate General for Employment (2013-2020). He initiated and coordinated the development of the EU Quality Public Administration Toolbox and the work of the European Public Administration Knowledge project. Before joining the European Commission, since 1996, he worked as an expert for socio-economic and institutional development for the EU and national governments. He has university degrees in Management and Environmental Policy, and is a fully trained mediator. Besides his German mother tongue, he speaks fluent English and Spanish.
