In this workshop, we will explore the forefront of digital government and interoperability research at our workshop dedicated to early-career researchers. Co-organized by the Belgian Presidency, Digital Flanders, the Joint Research Centre (JRC)’s FreshMind initiative, and the Interoperable Europe Academy, this workshop offers a platform for PhD candidates and early post-docs to showcase their research, receive valuable feedback, and engage in discussions with leading experts and peers.
Participants will explore topics such as cross-border interoperability, digital governance, data-driven policymaking, and emerging technologies in the public sector.
The event includes expert panel discussions, and interactive sessions aimed at advancing interoperable public services and digital-ready administrations.

Moderators:
Michiel is a doctoral researcher in the domain of semantic data interoperability and data protection in the framework of the SolidLab Flanders project. He holds a Master in Law and a Master in Intellectual Property and IT Law from KU Leuven. Before joining Centre for IT & IP Law at KU Leuven, Michiel worked as a legal counsel at KU Leuven R&D offering customized advice throughout the entire collaboration process, as well as specialized legal support to negotiate, review and set up agreements for consultancy, services, financed research and R&D collaborations.

Moderators:
Computer Engineer expert in data and data visualization. His first contact with the world of linked and semantic data has been in open data communities, in which he learned and shared his passion about open culture.
Since 2021 he's been working as an expert at the italian Government's Department for Digital Transformation. He contributed to the development of the Digital National Data Platform for technical and semantic interoperabiilty, both by disseminating knowledge and reviewing policies.
He's a representative in the Open Data Committee, the European Data Innovation Board and the Interoperability Expert Group.
