Raf Buyle is a seasoned data expert who has worked on strategic projects for local and regional governments since 2002. He joined Digital Flanders - the regional government administration of Flanders in Belgium - in 2015. He focused on implementing a more streamlined and interoperable e-government system, promoting open data, standards, and processes. Raf is the Innovation Lead at athumi, the Flemish Data Utility Company. He holds a PhD in Information Engineering Technology and is a researcher at Ghent University, where he explores the potential of Semantic Web concepts, technologies, and applications. Raf is also an active member of the Open Data community, advocates Open Data policies, and is an advisor to the board of Open Knowledge Belgium.
