Cross-border Semantic Interoperability: From Models Discovery and Design to Implementation and Reuse - part 1
STUDIO 214+216
The workshop explores the various stages of the data model lifecycle. We'll discuss what resources are currently available for reuse and delve into the authoring of new models while avoiding common quality pitfalls. Additionally, we'll examine the role of automation and AI in this process. Once models are developed, we'll consider how they can be made discoverable and accessible for future reuse. Given that these models serve a variety of user profiles, we'll also cover strategies for documenting them in an accessible manner for all beneficiaries. Finally, we will address the practical application of these models in the operational setting of a data space.
Throughout the session, industry experts will share their insights, detailing the processes they employ and the tools they develop and use to facilitate their work.

Parallel Track 1 (Strategic): Next generation digital government: Towards digital-ready policy making
COPPER HALL
This parallel session will focus on digital-ready policymaking as an enabler of digital government and how it could minimize compliance costs for administrations under the Interoperable Europe Act. It will present the current approaches taken by the European Commission and some Member States to implement innovative policymaking practices in the legislative process to enable digital government.
The session is targeted at professionals from the public sector, academia, and industry who are involved in digital government, policy design, and interoperability policy.
Moderation: Sven Schade, Scientific project leader, Digital economy, Digital economy JRC, European Commission
Parallel Track 2 (Technical): From Cloud to Edge: Implementing AI, Privacy, and the Data Act
THE ARC
This session examines the shift from cloud to edge computing, driven by the rise of AI and concerns about sustainability and privacy. As cloud computing peaks, edge computing emerges, offering data processing and storage closer to data sources and consumers. Granting smart devices the capability to process data at the source independently greatly advances data sovereignty and privacy, where the user has full and individual control over personal data. We will explore how edge computing can democratise data, empowering users and communities in line with the AI and Data Act, and discuss its implications across various domains.
Moderation: Raf Buyle, Digitaal Vlaanderen & Athumi
Parallel Track 3 (Technical): Next generation digital government: Interoperability solutions for automated, proactive public services
SILVER HALL
This session will discuss how governments are seeking to increasingly automate public services, so that they require as little interaction from users and service providers as possible. It implies a capacity to anticipate societal and economic developments, as well as users’ needs, by capturing real-time information and applying it to re-design services. Panellists will also discuss what interoperability solutions are needed to support the development of these next generation digital public services that are (close to) fully automated and proactive.
Moderation: Andrea Halmos, Deputy Head of Unit, Interoperability and Digital Government, DG DIGIT, European Commission
